Mackenzie Dern Announces Intention to Fight MMA

2015 IBJJF and ADCC world Champion Mackenzie Dern has announced she is training for a switch to MMA.

The 22-year-old Gracie Humaita stand-out posted a photo on Facebook of her alongside 115lb MMA fighter Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger and UFC signee Lauren Murphy.

I'm so lucky to have these girl helping my MMA transition!! They are great training partners and I am so happy to call them my friends!

The announcement comes after the most successful year of her career so far for Dern, who took gold at the IBJJF World, European and PanAm Championships, the Abu Dhabi World Pro (weight and absolute), the ADCC World Submission Wrestling Championships and the FIVE Grappling Super League.

Dern competes in BJJ tournaments at 58kg / 129lb. She replied to a fan on Twitter saying she would fight at 115lb for MMA.

As yet it is unclear whether she will continue to compete in grappling tournaments or make a complete move to MMA.
