Ida Fløisvik: From Farm Girl To Copa Podio Viking Warrior
A war will take place at Copa Podio in 2016. The professional jiu-jitsu tournament will be the scene of an series of showdowns between competitors representing two tribes: Scandinavian Vikings and ‘Cabras da Peste’, Brazilian rednecks from the North East of the country.

Ida Fløisvik, 23 years old from Stavanger in Norway, is the lone female warrior on the Viking team, and she will meet Ershirley Kessy Pereira, also known as Kessy ‘Paraíba’.

Fløisvik is a brown belt in jiu-jitsu and holds an impressive number of titles. She is a European champion both gi and no-gi, a PanAm champion, and won gold medals at the Rio Open and Rome Open.

A heavyweight competitor, Ida is known for her strength. Crossfit-style training makes up a big part of her regimen, and there are many videos of her demonstrating her imposing physical abilities on her Instagram

She credits growing up on a farm and handling animals as part of her training! “Holding these sheep is very heavy, part of my training for Copa Podio – Viking style! Old style!”

With a tight and strong top game, Fløisvik states that she loves to “crush” her opponents. With Viking power in her blood, she believes the team will conquer their Latin opponents.

“The battle between the Vikings and the Brazilians will be tough, but I think we will win” says Fløisvik.

The Vikings vs the Cabras da Peste will run throughout 2016, beginning with three matches at Jan. 9’s Copa Podio Lightweight Grand Prix
