Last weekend, a 10th Planet blue belt with only a year and a half of grappling experience submitted one of Ronda Rousey's main training partners.

Lynn Vuong, also known as the "Ashi Queen," is an Eddie Bravo student. At the Taps 4 Taps Newaza Challenge event in Torrance, California, a no-gi submission grappling event that draws competitors from all over the SoCal area, Vuong was matched up with Marina Shafir, a 145-pound MMA fighter and former member of the U.S. judo team.

Shafir, 28, is one of Rousey's best friends and main training partners. She appeared alongside Rousey when the former UFC champion coached on "The Ultimate Fighter." They have been friends since their judo days.

Though Shafir has followed in Rousey's footsteps and tried her hand at MMA, she has not tasted the same level of success--she amassed a record of one win and two losses (both by KO) in the Octagon.

Vuong grappled Shafir in her second match of the day, and tapped her out with a heel hook--you can see the video below. The voice you hear coaching Shafir is that of noted MMA fighter and catch wrestler Josh Barnett.

Vuong's coach, 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu founder Eddie Bravo, said:

She's only been training a year and a half, but she trains jiu-jitsu five to six days a week. She is on prodigy pace. She loves leg locks and chokes. She is a future EBI champ, in my opinion.
-- Eddie Bravo

Vuong recently completed a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience at the University of California, Riverside.
