Weekend recap: 16yo Beats A Black Belt, Silverio Injured, Xande Is Back!
Here's your Monday morning recap for around the world of jiu-jitsu on this day, September 5, 2016. There were huge events like the Grand Slam in LA and in-house invite-only tournaments in Brazil, here are the main talking points.

16yo phenom Roberto Jimenez takes out another black belt

Up and coming juvenile star Roberto Jimenez has been beating black belts since he was a green belt. Jimenez was one of the breakout stars of Royal Grappling back in June, winning the combined blue-purple belt division.

This weekend, he out-pointed Jason Soliz at a tournament in Texas.  This marks Jimenez's fourth win over a black belt in his young career. Incredible.

Victor Silverio suffers shoulder injury at LA Grand Slam

GF Team standout Victor Silverio fought his way through to the finals of the 77kg division at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Jiu-Jitsu Tour in Los Angeles on Saturday, facing off with Edwin Najmi for the gold medal.

Ahead 2-0, Silverio suffered a shoulder injury as the two hit the mat during a takedown battle. It's thought to have been a dislocation, although it popped back into place almost immediately.

After treatment at a local hospital Silverio was advised he'll likely be out of action until November, meaning he'll unfortunately miss Grappling Pro Championship on September 19.

Xande proves age is just a number

35-year-old Xande Ribeiro competed just over a week ago at the IBJJF World Master Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Las Vegas. He was eliminated from his weight division but closed out the absolute with Rafael Lovato Jr.

Anybody thinking that Xande's best days are gone by was in for a shock this weekend as he went on to win the 94kg division at the LA Grand Slam.

Ribeiro great Erberth Santos, who is over 10 years younger than him, in a thrilling match that you can watch here.
