SJJIF World Championship Delivers Epic Black Belt Absolute Final
The first day of the 2016 SJJIF World Championships went off with a bang at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

Over 2,000 athletes from around the globe signed up to compete, but no division was as exciting as the Adult black belt absolute. Isaac Doederlein, a lightweight, made his way to the finals to face Atos Ultra Heavyweight Dany Gerard. The first 5 minutes of the match could have seen more action, but the overtime final made up for any passivity that took place prior.

Doederlein put the pressure on Danny, nearly clearing his knee and hitting a cut through pass on the edge of the mat. Gerard was able to weather the storm and methodically work his way to x-guard where he hit the sweep that would give him the instant win due to the sudden-death overtime ruleset.
