There were some heated matches and big wins in the black belt divisions of the IBJJF South American Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil, this past weekend. 

Porfirio dominates Mackenzie

Most notable was Tayane Porfirio putting 20 points on Mackenzie Dern in the course of their 10-minute match. The Alliance star took Dern to task, pulling guard and sweeping Dern twice. Porfirio passed the guard and cycled through positions to rack up the points victory. 

Porfirio is one of the breakout stars of 2016. As a brown belt, she won double gold in the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro combined black-brown belt divisions, before being promoted on the podium of the IBJJF Worlds in June.

Honorio, Erberth continue rivalry

There's no love lost between the bad boy of jiu-jitsu Erberth Santos and GF Team's Victor Honorio. The two have history stretching back through to blue belt and have fought multiple times, with the last meeting prior to this ending in a double DQ at the Abu Dhabi World Pro. 

Honorio put on a convincing performance versus Santos in the men's absolute final to win 8-2. His two lightning-fast guard passes need to be seen to be believed.

Calasans returns to action

We haven't seen much of Claudio Calasans in the second half of this year. He suffered an injury in the semifinals of Worlds courtesy of Gabriel Arges' match-ending kneebar but returned to fight at limited capacity for the Copa Podio Middleweight Grand Prix in Buenos Aires. 

In one of his few outings since then, Calasans defeated Sandro Vieira by choke in the final of the black belt middleweight division.
