Isaque Bahiense was fighting in his first major international tournament against athletes of the highest level at the 2017 IBJJF European Championships.

In this encounter he faced Davi Ramos, known as one of the most explosive and dangerous grapplers in the middleweight division. In addition, Ramos was the ADCC 2015 champion and an active MMA fighter.

Bahiense went headlong into the match with Davi, characteristically showing no fear in the face of the veteran's dangerous wrestling-style reversals.

Scoring a two-point sweep early, Bahiense scrambled like his life depended on it to defend every single one of Ramos' attempts to score and picked up his first major scalp of the year.

The match ended 2-0 in favor of Bahiense, who would ultimately take third in the middleweight division.
