Cobrinha Wins Europeans In Dominant Fashion, Shows He's Not Going Anywhere

The Alliance featherweight won European gold on January 22, defeating Gianni Grippo in the final of the 70kg / 154.5lb division. 

Charles had four fights to win gold, defeating Grippo in the final, Gabriel Marangoni in the semifinal, Alexandre Vieira in the quarterfinal, and Nelson Teixeira in his opening match. 

This marked the second time the four-time world champ won gold in Lisbon. He was last crowned Euro champion in 2013. 

'Cobrinha' submitted his first three opponents before defeating Grippo 5-0 in the final by way of a sweep and a guard pass.
