Weekend Recap: Young Guns of Gracie Barra Submit Their Way To Glory
A Polish up-and-comer puts 30+ points on a veteran of the sport, a rising star from Alliance cleans up in Mexico, and two of Gracie Barra's best submit their way to glory.

Najmi and Arges, Two of Gracie Barra's Best

The dynamic duo of Gracie Barra Northridge teammates Edwin Najmi and Gabriel Arges have been tearing up the comp scene since they got their black belts.

Both of them are perfect examples of the new breed of jiu-jitsu athletes -- smart, social media-savvy, seriously talented and submission-oriented.

Edwin Najmi came from behind in the -75kg final of the weekend's ACB event to submit Marcio Andre with a triangle. Najmi had conceded 17 points(!) in the opening round and fought off a deep choke attempt before the comeback.

Gabriel Arges met Gracie Barra teammate Otavio Sousa in the -85kg final, submitting Sousa with a kneebar.

Prior to winning their championship belts, Najmi beat Michael Langhi by decision and Daud Adaev by triangle. Arges beat Arnaldo Maidana by triangle and Josh Hinger by points.

Adam Wardzinski puts 30 points on Lagarto, takes quad gold

Crazy to think that Adam Wardzinski of Checkmat was competing as a brown belt less than a year ago.

He only got his black belt 5 months ago and has been tearing up the European scene since then, medalling at many UAEJJF National Pros and taking bronze at the IB JJF Europeans.

Maybe his most notable performance to date was at last weekend's IBJJF Munich Open, where he beat Lucio 'Lagarto' 31 points to 2!

Wardzinski took double gold (weight and absolute) in both gi and no-gi. Next up for him is the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in London, March 18.
