Just when we thought things couldn't get more dramatic at Worlds, a lightweight was crowned champion of the absolute (open weight) division -- beating THREE ultra heavyweights along the way!

Jonnatas Gracie (no relation to the famous family) of Atos -- who won lightweight gold -- took out the gold, silver and bronze medalists from the ultra heavyweight division during his run at absolute gold. He also beat medium heavyweight silver medalist Andre Wiltse.

Immediately upon winning his final match of the absolute, Gracie was promoted to brown belt by his coach Andre Galvao.

The Brazilian athlete, who was born in Rio Grande do Norte but was raised in Sao Paulo, has been a permanent member of the team based in the USA since November of 2016.

A World No-Gi, European and Pan champion, Gracie capped off an incredible tournament which saw him take gold in both the lightweight division (7 matches) and the absolute (4 matches).

Absolute results:
1 - Jonnatas Gracie Araujo Da Silva - Atos Jiu-jitsu
2 - Victor Hugo Costa Marques - Ribeiro Jiu-jitsu
3 - Luis Eduardo Lopes Do Carmo - Team Lloyd Irvin
3 - Tarik Hopstock - Frontline Academy
