Keenan Cornelius and Matheus Diniz Throw Down The Gauntlet In 15-Minute War
Submission-only rules favor Keenan's approach -- he adamantly insists on playing guard, is nearly impossible to pass, and actively hunts submissions from a variety of (read: all) positions. Matheus would either need to have an incredibly dominant and controlling game or catch Keenan with an unexpected submission attempt.
Unfortunately for him, it didn't work out that way.
After 10 minutes of regulation it was clear Keenan's clever use of the lapel/advanced stages of worm guard was going to stifle any offense from Diniz. Keenan showed employed an aggressive game from bottom had several omoplata attempts and nearly secured the back on multiple occasions.
When the dust settled, Cornelius was given the unanimous decision victory.
