From the blue and yellow mats of the IBJJF to the most exciting glove sport in the world, Mahamed Aly finally fulfilled his childhood dream. The Jiu-Jitsu world champion made his long-awaited MMA debut with victory, on Jan. 20. But this story started much earlier, in mid-2011.

Before dreaming of his debut in professional MMA, a feat he achieved at Paradigm Combat Sports by knocking out veteran John Ott (9W-9L-1NC) with a head kick, Mahamed was long preparing his skills for the cage. At the age of 18, still a blue belt, Mahamed joined Team Nogueira and had the chance to be a sparring partner for the Nogueira brothers. His heart was divided at the time, but training with Lloyd Irvin put him on the path to gold at the IBJJF World Championship. The dream would remain hidden for a while longer.

After competing in Boxing and honing his Muay-Thai with teammate Jansey "Jones" Silva, Mahamed got back on track with MMA. After relentlessly seeking his debut in amateur MMA, and seeing most of his opponents cancel the fight at the last minute, seeking a fight in professional MMA would be the best option.

It was then that Mahamed stepped into the ring for the first time to fight MMA. With all the experience necessary to subdue his opponent on the ground, Mahamed opted to work standing up. He threw strong kicks and landed good punches, and took advantage of his opponent's visible dizziness at the beginning of the first round to unleash the final kick, at head height, and settle the score.

With his total focus on MMA, Mahamed said on social media that this will be his motivation for the next eight years. Today, at the age of 30, Mahamed has everything he needs for a promising career in the cage, whether finishing with the power we know, or with the sharp kicks we saw in his MMA debut. Check out below how was his winner's debut at the MMA ring.
