Dillon Danis: 'I Go To Take Your Head Off'

Dillon Danis always says what he thinks, and he never backs down from a challenge. The next item on his to-do list: the Five Super League, an eight-man 170-pound pro tournament in San Diego, California, on December 3, featuring elite black belts such as Edwin Najmi, Bill Cooper, Michael Liera Jr., and more.

null“Professional jiu-jitsu – you make money generally, so it’s more my thing. Money is a good thing," Danis said.

“I just like to fight. It doesn’t matter. I’m not the guy who’s going to do something because of the money. I usually do it, because I love it.

“I just love jiu-jitsu. I’ll fight any tournament, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m there, I show up.

“I really like those tournaments where eight men go in and one guy wins. There’s something special about tournaments to me. It feels good, I like that kind of format. I’m really looking forward to going in and testing myself.

The Five Super League is a gi tournament. People might think I’m a no-gi guy. I said this since the beginning, gi or no-gi – it makes no difference to me. I’ve been training both since I was 15. I won the Worlds in both gi and no-gi at brown belt. I’m at the same level in each one.

“I train with the best team in the world, gi or no-gi. I have the best gi champions in the world, Marcelo Garcia and Bernardo Faria. I’m always prepared for any tournament. I have the best team in the world, and I train with a lot of the best teams in the world. I have that luxury, I have a lot of good friends in the sport and good training partners. Whenever I compete I’m always ready, and I always have an army behind me.

“I like to enter these tournaments, because they have the best guys in the world. And I have to beat those guys to show everybody I’m the best. I’m just going out there to f*** everybody up. That’s what I always do. I go out there and I fight, and I get in your face and I go to take your head off.

“I don’t really care who’s in the tournament. I’m there for a good fight. If they want to come and test themselves against me, tell them to come and get it.”
