Galvao: I Never Stop Learning From Jiu-Jitsu

Galvao: I Never Stop Learning From Jiu-Jitsu

Team Atos leader Andre Galvao won gold in the ultra heavy division and bronze in the open category at the 2016 IBJJF Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships. After ended day one with a loss to Leandro Lo in the open class semi's Galvao came back to dominate his weigh class and close out the division with teammate and AoJ product Joseph Moku. We asked

"It was a good performance, I gave everything in each fight. I had a lot of good opponents in the open class. I ended up losing to Leandro Lo. I treid my best but I think I can improve. I'm still learning. It was a big lesson for me and I will come back stronger. I had an opportunity at one of my best ways of passing guard, but I couldn't. I got a little tired too. I just have to work a little bit more on my conditioning with my students, and keep up the good work. I'm so happy for Moku as well, the guy who ended up in the finals with me. He's a great fighter, we ended up closing out the weight division, it was amazing."

Another Atos figurehead made the podium on Sunday night too. JT Torres in his first major tournament coming back from an knee injury finished the day with third place after falling to Vitor Oliveira in the semi's.

"He did great. I'm very proud of JT. He worked really hard and fought in the middleweight division. So it was the first time fighting that division in a while. JT is amazing he has all the skills to become one of the best. It's small details. I believe the stategy wasn't good for that fight (vs. Vitor Oliveira) But I believe he will come back stronger. 100%"
