Disappointed Buchecha 'It Wasn't My Decision'

2015 Abu Dhabi World Pro Champion Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida surprised everybody today when he withdrew last minute from both the absolute and weight divisions at the 2016 Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu Jitsu Championships. The defending champ entered his name and came all the way to Abu Dhabi but withdrew this morning and did not compete.

"It was a really tough decision but it wasn't mine. My master Leo Vieira convinced me not to do it and focus 100% on Worlds. I'm older and have more experience so unfortunately I had to listen. It was hard but I had to do it." 

"I came here to fight so to not do it was disappointing. It is what it is but I'll be much better at Worlds. I'm going there ready to kill or die. Maybe here I was going to try a strategy and that's not my game. I think he (Leo Vieira) was right."
