To Get You Inspired For No-Gi Season: 5 Action-Packed Matches
Summer is here, and it's getting hot, hot hot! Who wants to train in a horrible, suffocating heavy gi in this kind of weather? Summer means no-gi season, so it’s time to break out the board shorts and rash guard and go train!

To get you in the mood for no-gi season, watch these five action-packed matches.

AJ Agazarm vs. Daniel Strauss

This infamous match was an instant classic; a back-and-forth battle between two very different grapplers: Strauss, the big man with a equal-sized personality, against Agazarm, the fearless warrior who doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘quit.’

For 15 minutes, they went at it, and the crowd loved every second. It remains one of the most popular no-gi matches of the last couple of years.

Lucas Barbosa vs. Thiago Sa

What happens when you’ve got two dynamic, explosive, hungry young black belts vying for a World no-gi gold medal? Fireworks, of course! The two Brazilians Barbosa and Sa—representing Atos and Checkmate, respectively—put on one of the most thrilling finals from last year’s IBJJF World No-Gi Championships. Watch it below in case you missed it.

Mackenzie Dern vs. Andresa Correa

Another final from the 2015 No-Gi Worlds, this was one of Mackenzie’s best moments. Her and Correa are no strangers to each other, and their matches are usually close affairs. Not here, though. It’s a quick start and a fast submission—don’t blink!

Cora Sek vs. Alex Terrier

Possibly the most entertaining and dramatic teens match we’ve ever seen, these two young ladies put on an absolute barn-burner at the first Onnit Invitational. The crowd could barely believe what they were watching in this submission-only match, which showcased their high level of skill in a flurry of non-stop action. It certainly previewed the future talents of both young ladies.

Mike Perez vs. Gordon Ryan

The 2015 ADCC North American Trials will go down in history as the first-ever event broadcast by FloGrappling. Looking at some of the names who entered, it reads like a who’s who of today's stars, but just over a year ago, some were still trying to break through onto the big stage. At the time, few knew who Gordon Ryan or Mike Perez were, but people who saw this match could say they knew who they were before they were famous.
