Buchecha on Submit Cancer Match: 'Everybody Should Fight For A Cause'
With tens of millions of people suffering from cancer every year, the disease has affected nearly everyone in some way.

Ultra heavyweight and Absolute world champion Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida is fortunate his family has never been touched by cancer, but he knows plenty of people who have.

"Cancer is one of the biggest problems in the world. I don't have anybody in my family who had cancer, but I saw some people close to me fighting the disease," Buchecha said.

Even some cases in the sport, too -- opponents that I fight all the time who fought and overcame it. It's really good to see people win, and let's say, submit cancer.

Submit Cancer
is the name for this weekend's special charity grappling event that will be held at MusclePharm HQ in Denver, Colorado.

With competitors fighting for free, proceeds from the event will go to the Colorado Children's Hospital Foundation.

I think it's a special event for a great cause, and I'm really happy to be part of it," Buchecha said.

It's the first time I'm fighting for a cause like this. I think everybody should do it. It's way more than just the sport and the competition—it's to help others.

Buchecha vs. Elliot Marshall

The event will feature a number of submission-only superfights, and Buchecha's opponent is Elliot Marshall, former MMA fighter and head coach at Team Elevation.

"I knew Elliot Marshall because of his UFC and MMA career. I met him personally one month ago when I went to MusclePharm HQ, and I had the opportunity to talk to him and train too. He's a really nice guy," Buchecha said.

Even though the event is for charity, Buchecha promises he'll still approach the contest with victory in mind, as always.

"Every fight is the same, I don't have strategy—but for sure, it will be a good fight."
