Tayane and Erberth rack up early-season ranking points

The IBJJF traveled to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, for another of its regular International Open tournaments, and two familiar faces claimed gold.

Tayane Porfirio and Erberth Santos both won the black belt absolute divisions, giving them a substantial lead in the ranking points.

Remembering how close the race was between Leandro Lo and Erberth at the end of the last season, it makes sense that Erberth wants to get a head start on his rival!

Also, take a look at a slick armbar finish by Erberth in the absolute division.

Hulk commemorates black belt anniversary

Lucas "Hulk" Barbosa competed in American Nationals last weekend, winning gold at medium heavyweight in both gi and no-gi.

Competing in Las Vegas just one week before he will go to Tokyo to compete in the upcoming UAEJJF Grand Slam, Barbosa became American national gi champ for the first time and no-gi champ for the second year running.

Not only did he do that but he also celebrated his two-year anniversary of getting his black belt!
