From ADCC to Fight To Win, Simoes is one of the most dominant competitors of our era. In 2016, he became the only man to win the No-Gi Worlds absolute division twice and in 2017 became only the second man to win ADCC gold at two different weight classes.

Yuri Simoes vs Travis Stevens
In August, perhaps one of the most anticipated Fight To Win main events ever pitted judo Olympic silver medalist Travis Stevens against ADCC champion Yuri Simoes. Simoes walked into enemy territory in Boston and put on a show for the local crowd at F2W 44. While some speculated that Simoes' only chance to win was by pulling guard, he surprised everyone by standing and trading grips with the elite judoka.
Ultimately, Simoes took a decisive decision win over the American judoka after an action-packed 10 minutes.
Yuri Simoes vs Marcus Cole
Starting off his bid for No-Gi Worlds gold in 2016, Simoes faced Marcus Cole in the first round of the absolute division. With a significant size advantage, Simoes took the opportunity to open up his game and show off his wrestling and submission skills. After an early takedown put Cole in a bad spot, it was only a matter of time until Simoes finished things off.
Getting caught in an arm triangle by the ADCC champion looks to be one of the most uncomfortable positions imaginable.
Yuri Simoes vs Mike Perez
Simoes' campaign at the 2017 ADCC World Championships will go down in grappling history as a rare accomplishment saved for the elite of the elite. However, one match that sticks out is his back-and-forth battle with Atos black belt Mike Perez. Styles make fights and it was sure to be fireworks when these two hard-nosed competitors stepped onto the mat!
Neither one was interested in taking a step back and even occasionally the match teetered on fisticuffs!
Yuri Simoes vs Dean Lister
In a rematch from their 2015 ADCC quarterfinal, Simoes and Dean Lister squared off a year later at F2W Pro 8 in a match with a lot of heat behind it. The two exchanged words in the lead-up to the match, but all hell broke loose when Lister was late showing up to the weigh-ins. Fortunately for us, they saved the action for the match and turned in one of the most exciting main events in Fight To Win history.
Simoes was determined on proving a point to his fellow ADCC champion and was able to secure Lister's back at one point. Even though Simoes didn't find the submission, he did enough to lock up the referee's decision with a dominant performance.
