We Asked The One Person Who Could Really Confirm If Erberth Peed His Pants

Rumors abounded after Erberth's bizarre match at Abu Dhabi World Pro where he competed with a very dubious looking wet patch on his pants.

Had he peed his pants? Did it happen before or during the match? Was that the reason he just pulled side control and gave up midway through the match?

We asked the one person who could give a definitive answer: his opponent in that match, Anton Minenko of Australia.

The Brisbane-based black belt told us without any doubt that Erberth had NOT peed his pants and the stain was just water.

"I was stuck in his triangle for two minutes, so I can say," he told us over breakfast at the athlete's hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Appearing in his first major tournament since November of last year and returning off knee surgery, Minenko fought through to third place in the 94kg black belt division in Abu Dhabi.

Though he went out to overall winner Kaynan Duarte via a 2-0 loss in his opening match, Minenko entered the repechage and tapped out Haisam Rida (GHA) before meeting Erberth.

"He just gave up," said Anton, referring to Erberth pulling side control and tapping as soon as the hand went in the collar. "I just don't think he wanted to be there any more."

Minenko had one more match, a points win over Basel Fanous, to make the podium and take third in the division.
