Kaynan Duarte's No-Gi Pans Reverse Triangle Highlight
Nov 26, 2020
Kaynan Duarte unveiled a new weapon at the No-Gi Pans, a highly effective triangle from the back. The reverse triangle (aka triangle from the back, or ushiro sankaku in Japanese) is not a common move, but Kaynan hit it no less than four times at No-Gi Pans.
Look at how he moves from the seatbelt and shifts his hips high. From this position he digs his heel into the crook of the elbow and separates the arm from the upper body. He will adjust his leg position while simultaneously pulling up on the trapped arm. As the pressure of the choke increases he also forces the shoulder into a compromising position, making this an extremely powerful double attack from a position of near absolute control.
