Jake Shields Planning 'Domination' vs DIllon Danis
Jake Shields says that dominating his opponents is one of the things he enjoys the most about combat, and he’s planning to do just that against Dillon Dani on May 14 on Submission Underground 4.
Veteran grappler and MMA fighter Shields, a jiu-jitsu black belt under Cesar Gracie and training partner of Nick and Nate Diaz, will face off with Danis in a submission-only no-gi grappling match inside the SUG cage.
For both men, this is their return to Submission Underground – Shields defeated Chris Lyle previously, while Dillon Danis overcame AJ Agazarm.
Shields jumped at the chance to face Danis, regardless of his reputation as one of jiu-jitsu’s most dynamic young black belt submission machines.
“I wanted to go against Dillon, I think he’s one of the most talented up-and-coming young guys. Being a veteran it’s always nice going out there and beating the young bucks.”
He and Dillon have had some beef in the past, thanks to their affiliation with rival MMA fighters Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. The infamous confrontation between the two camps means there is unfinished business between them. “We don’t like each other, says Shields. “We’re going out there to take each other out.”
Never one to hold back, Shields has some stark and unsettling advice for Danis.
“Pull out of the fight, fake an injury or something. You don’t want to get embarrassed and be submitted before you start your MMA career.”
