Victor Hugo Jumps In For Brasileiros Seeking First Black Belt Title
The two-time world champ hasn't competed at Brasilieros since 2019, when he took double gold at brown belt.
Today, two-time IBJJF world champ Victor Hugo threw his name into the ultra heavyweight division for the upcoming IBJJF Brazilian Nationals — Brasileiros — joining the 13-man ultra heavyweight category.
Hugo, who competed last weekend at BJJ Stars, winning two matches before falling to Erich Munis in the semifinal, has not competed at Brasileiros as a black belt. His last time at the tournament was in 2019, when the then-brown belt earned double gold as part of his eventual Double Grand Slam-winning season.
He also won the tournament in 2015 as a blue belt and in 2016 as a purple belt.
Joining Hugo in the ultra heavyweight division are heavy hitters such as Pedro Alex "Bom Bom," Otavio Nalati and Antonio Braga Neto.
Don't be surprised to see Hugo in the absolute division, where he could find a rematch with Erich Munis, among many others.
