Zuckerberg Shares His Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Goal For New Meta Product Threads

On the day of the launch of new social media platform Threads, Meta CEO and Brazilian jiu-jitsu student Mark Zuckerberg took to the opportunity to share his goal for the product when it comes to grappling content.

When responding to the FloGrappling account's introductory post on the platform, Zuckerberg said;

It is a personal goal to create the best place for discussions around jiu jitsu and MMA content. For visual content, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc will still be better.

Zuckerberg has become an avid fan of the gentle art, studying under Dave Camarillo. Mark made headlines earlier this year when he competed in his first tournament, winning gold and silver while representing the Guerilla Jiu Jitsu team at a local California event.

To see the company CEO taking such a special interest in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and creating a personal goal around it for this new venture, is exciting when you consider how important sites like Instagram have become for many grappling athletes who want to promote themselves and better connect with fans through social media.

The text-based app was launched today, one day earlier than expected, and links to existing Instagram and Facebook accounts. The company describes it as a place to "follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things".

Many are considering the app to be competition to Twitter - and at a time when Zuckerberg and Twitter owner Elon Musk have been engaged in a back-and-forth regarding a potential charity fight. The news of a possible fight has drawn interest from many, including UFC promoter Dana White who says he is very interested in facilitating the potential matchup.
