The Black Belt Open Class Brackets Are HERE For IBJJF Euros
Check out who has entered into the absolute and who will be contending for double gold in Lisbon, Portugal on Friday and Saturday!
We have the open class brackets SET for the IBJJF No-Gi Pans at adult black belt - and they are stacked with tons of top talent all aiming for absolute gold & glory. These divisions take the mat 9:30am tomorrow on Mats 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9.

Men's Bracket
Marcus Scooby is the #1 seed here and I think the Alliance black belt has a great shot at winning. He's been very close at basically every major championship and a double gold here would be an incredible boon to his career. Watch out for the Scooby sweep! To get to the semifinals, he will likely face Atos's Nico Maglicic who is definitely tough but still likely needs some time at black belt to really establish himself. On the other side of that semifinal, there are a few potential interesting names like Luiz Cantereria and the lightweight Jefferson Goteu but the path is clear for Alliance's Scooby in the finals.
On the other side, Rider Zuchi is the second seed and looks well suited for a run here. Windson Torres could stand in his way, a rookie black belt fresh off a solid brown belt campaign, and if he wins that he likely sees the winner of Marcos Carrozzino (who just won No-Gi Worlds) and Anderson Kauan of InFight.
Women's Bracket
Speaking of InFight, Gabi Pessanha is in the open class and the heavy, heavy, heavy favorite for gold. I'm definitely interested in that second round match, as she could face Giovanna Jara in an intriguing clash (which can be rare for Gabi some tournaments). On the other half of the bracket, Yara is the two seed and Melissa Cueto is the three. Both have faced and lost to Gabi before, but in stiff tests for the GOAT.
IBJJF Black Belt Euros Schedule
Once the absolute brackets are done, with Saturday's finals being set by the end of the day on Friday, then we will also do the women's brackets up to the finals and the men's up to the quarters. Those remaining matches all go down on Saturday, exclusively on FloGrappling.
So, to break it down, on Friday we will have
- The entire men's and women's absolute up until the finals, finalists advance to tomorrow
- The entire women's divisonal rounds up until the finals, finalists advance to tomorrow
- The entire men's qualifier rounds, meaning the top-8 in each bracket advance to tomorrow
On Saturday we will have
- The men's quarterfinals and semifinals
- All adult black belt finals
