The Black Belt Open Class Brackets Are HERE For IBJJF Brasileiros
Check out who has entered into the absolute and who will be contending for double gold in São Paulo, Brazil on Saturday and Sunday!

We have the open class brackets SET for the IBJJF Brasileiros at adult black belt - and they are stacked with tons of top talent all aiming for absolute gold & glory. These divisions take the mat 9:30am tomorrow (7:30am central) on Mats 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, and 12.
You can find the full brackets, updated in real time, here;
Men's Bracket

The reigning World open class champion Erich Munis headlines the field, with the one seed and a bye into the second round. He has a good path to the quarters where Anderson Kauan is a really dangerous test. While Munis has owned that series to date, Anderson has the foot lock game to really mess with Munis - who has struggled before with leg lockers. On the other side, Pedro Machado is the likely favorite if he can handle the power and aggression of super-heavy Rider Zuchi. Machado's got one of the most dangerous closed guard armbars in the world - watch out for it.

On the other side of the bracket, Luis Cantereira of Fratres is the two-seed after winning the open in Europe. That wasn't without controversy, though, with a loss earlier in the bracket to Scooby being wiped out with a double DQ later. There's a chance he sees Marcus Scooby again here, but first Scooby has to make his way though the small-but-mighty Meyram Maquine. Meyram is a top pound-for-pound talent who was on the open class podium in the Pyramid in 2024. If things hit right, he very well could be in the finals here.
Women's Bracket

No shock, Gabi Pessanha is the one seed and heavy favorite. After her first round match, she might have an early rematch with former open class champion Tayane Porfirio - how's that for a quarterfinal? After that is likely the winner of the large Isa Lemos and the pressure-based Sábatha Lais. On the far side of the bracket, there's a lot of fun black belts that will have some really fun battles. Yara Soares - who will be at heavyweight - may still see Pessanha if she makes the finals but Mel Cueto and Lis Clay are both major factors as well.
