Tye Ruotolo Defeats Dante Leon To Defend Title At ONE Fight Night 31
Tye Ruotolo defended his ONE welterweight grappling championship against Dante Leon at ONE Fight Night 31, winning by decision in Thailand.

Tye Ruotolo defeated Dante Leon by decision at ONE Fight Night 31, defending his ONE welterweight grappling championship in a tough battle between the two pound-for-pound talents. After ten minutes with no submission catches, it was the positional advancement and aggression from top of Ruotolo that made the difference.
Tye Ruotolo struck early with a powerful double leg that he was able to force into a brief side control. Tye looked great from top, using his loose passing and knee slides to create pressure against the guard and even pass on a few occasions. Dante was always able to climb his legs inside and was reguarding well, but was unable to mount significant offense back (until a solid leg entanglement in the final minute). There were no submission catches, though Tye had a few bites on an Estima lock throughout the contest. Both men really showed throughout the bout they are globally elite and great representatives of jiu-jitsu.
The Ruotolo brothers remain undefeated in ONE Championship, both holding submission grappling world titles with the organization. Kade is now also competing in MMA, and Tye has made allusions that he will make an MMA debut soon as well. Tye remains the number one ranked 185lb no-gi grappler by FloGrappling.
