Fury Pro Grappling 13: Sabatini, Ocasio, Hishaw Take Home Gold
Three new champions were crowned at Fury Pro Grappling, featuring action from Taylor Hishaw, Junny Ocasio, Pat Downey, and more

In the main event, Pat Sabatini beat Joe Solecki in a clash of UFC veterans and won the inaugural promotional championship match at 170lbs. Interestingly, Solecki played a lot of guard through the night and was aggressive about hunting leg entanglements and even deep half throughout the bout but Solecki's passing and pressure was enough for the judges.
The co-main event saw Junny Ocasio crowned the inaugural Fury Grappling bantamweight champion by submission when he snatched the inside heel hook on a transition against Kevin Dantzler. Junny, who is also an IBJJF World No-Gi Champion, was consistently hunting leg entanglements through the match until he was able to finally break through.
In the evening, D1 wrestling All-American, jiu-jitsu black belt, UFC Champion, and all-around combat legend Chris Weidman made the walk for his first grappling match in many years when he took on the enigmatic Pat Downey in a battle of bruisers. In the golden score overtime, it was Downey (who placed top-10 in the world in freestyle wrestling in 2018) scoring the throw and the takedown to win the match.
In the $5,000 women's 125lb tournament, Taylor Hishaw beat Trinity Pun in a rematch from their recent WNO 27 bout. It was another close decision but ultimately the judges favored Hishaw's top work over Pun's guard play. In the semifinals it was Trinity Pun striking first against Cindy Ung in overtime with a takedown and Taylor Hishaw submitting Jocelyn Letscher with an armbar as regulation expired (Letscher stepped in late to replace Amanda Bruse). With the tournament victory, the teen phenom becomes the Fury Grappling 125lb champion.
NCAA wrestling champion Lucas Byrd made his pro grappling debut but unfortunately things did not go his way as his opponent Lucas Seibert was able to lock up a triangle choke to score the submission win within two minutes.
After a neutral stalemate in the regulation period between Daishi Goto and Devhonte Johnson, it was a very late spin to the back from Johnson that broke the stalemate and secured the win with nearly 0 on the clock.
