CJI 2 European Team Set: Trials Sets Final Squad For Misfits

The final team for CJI 2's squad of European misfits is set! The Faradinho Trials went down today in London and the final three representatives for the Craig Jones Invitational team were decided - and they will be Pawel Jaworski, Paul Ardilla, and Marcin Maciulewicz.

The full European team will be:

  • -66kg: Owen Jones, UK
  • -77kg: Pawel Jaworski, POL
  • -88kg: Paul Ardilla, COL
  • -99kg: Charles Negromonte, BRA/UK
  • +99kg: Marcin Maciulewicz, POL or Frederic Vosgrone, GER

The spots at -66kg and -99kg were given out by the coach Faris Benlamkadem and Craig Jones based on past performance. The rest were left up to invitational brackets between four men. It was a fun, small tournament in the Los Banditos club with a lot of drinks, yelling, and action spilling out into the fan areas.

In an interesting twist, Marcin Maciulewicz (who ironically scored the event's only submission victory) will still have to defend his spot against Germany's Frederic Vosgrone, so that spot still could change.

This group will now represent the continent at the Craig Jones Invitational 2 in August under modified Quintet rules. That's all going down August 30th-31st in Las Vegas, NV and will also feature Craig taking on Olympic champion wrestler Gable Steveson.
