Leandro Lo Murder Trial Postponed, Rescheduled For August
The defense for Henrique Velozo, the man accused of murdering Leandro Lo, filed an injunction to include expert testimony, further delaying the trial.

The jury trial of Henrique Velozo, the police officer accused of killing eight time IBJJF World Champion Leandro Lo in 2022, has been postponed.
The trial was originally scheduled to begin on May 22, but on the eve of the trial, Velozo’s attorneys filed an injunction alleging that the judge in the case prejudiced the defense by preventing certain expert witnesses — hired by the defense — from testifying.
Court magistrates granted the injunction, further delaying the trial. That injunction will be argued before the trial resumes. It is now scheduled for August 5, two days before the three year anniversary of Lo’s death.
Velozo, who serves as a lieutenant in the PolĂcia Militar in SĂ£o Paulo, remains detained in the RomĂ£o Gomes military prison. Earlier this month, the internal affairs department of the PM recommended Velozo’s dismissal from the force, condemning him for using his service weapon while off duty, and for fleeing the scene without contacting medical aid or reporting the incident to his superiors until hours later when he turned himself in.
