In the first announced matchup of the event, Ryan Aitken and Roberto Jimenez will face off in a clash of light heavyweight contenders at WNO 29 in Miami, Florida. These two grapplers are both coming off key wins in their last WNO performances and a good performance here can launch either of them into title contention.

Roberto and Ryan have never met before but both have fought their way to the top of the light heavyweight division with repeated wins over top talent in the division. In February at WNO 26, Roberto picked up what may end up being the submission of the year with his flying armbar over no-gi World champion Elder Cruz in just seconds. Earlier that same night, Ryan furthered his campaign to the top with a key win over Luccas Lira.

These guys have won titles in every ruleset possible, including ADCC, IBJJF, EBI, and beyond. Now they meet up as both men look to make their case for why they deserve to fight for the title that has eluded them so far - WNO 205lb Champion.

Roberto has been on grappling fans's radars for years now as we have watched him grow up in this sport, developing into one of the best there is. His wild, eccentric style is marked by his scrambles, his ruthless submissions, crazy escapes, and his primal energy he taps into as he competes. He's a fan favorite who delivers on excitement every single match he has.

Ryan Aitken was a breakout story of 2023 & 2024, emerging with big wins at EBI, submitting Marinho first round at ADCC, and winning PGF's 205lb season. The 10th Planet Atlanta black belt has shown no signs of slowing down with a careful, methodical approach to breaking down the opposition once he hits the mats.
