What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu

-Craig Jones announced on Sunday that he is leaving the B-Team, which he helped found. The team will continue on as currently run, but considering Craig's other ventures he can no longer commit to the Austin-based gym. Craig still intends to compete in CJI 2 against Gable Steveson, which may very well be his final match.

-The WNO card was completed with eleven total matches. The Miami event will feature:

  • Middleweight Bout - Kit Dale vs Vagner Rocha
  • Bantamweight Bout - Adele Fornarino vs Jasmine Rocha
  • Light Heavyweight Bout - Roberto Jimenez vs Ryan Aitken
  • Lightweight Bout - Gianni Grippo vs Owen Jones
  • Middleweight Bout - Luccas Lira vs Sean Yadimarco
  • Heavyweight Bout - Roosevelt Sousa vs Igor Tanabe
  • Welterweight Bout - Michael Sainz vs Natan Chueng
  • Undercard Middleweight Bout - Jake O'Driscoll vs. JZ Cavalcante
  • Undercard Heavyweight Bout - Joselyn Molina vs Amy Grande
  • Undercard Middleweight Bout - Linus von Schrenk vs Andre Porfirio
  • Undercard Lightweight Bout - Matias Jimenez vs Tristan Sainz

-The organizer of the past few ADCC World Championships Mo Jassim put out on his Instagram that he is working on an ADCC-style event in the gi. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

"I think it's time. I am working on doing an ADCC gi event," - Mo Jassim

-Kenta Iwamoto has replaced Levi Jones-Leary on the Australasian team at CJI 2 in the -77kg spot. Iwamoto is a 3-time ADCC Trials Champion who was recently in action at AIGA, including submitting Robinho.

-Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida (5-1-0) has signed with the UFC and will make his promotional debut against #14 ranked Martin Buday.

-Giancarlo Bodoni will face Rafael Lovato Jr at ONE 173 in the 205lbs division. The event is set for November 16th, 2025.

-Rafael Lovato Jr said in an interview with Jits Magazine that he intends to sit out of ADCC 2026. Lovato won silver at the 2024 edition and would have an invitation if he changes his mind.

-Tye Ruotolo will make his MMA debut against Adrian Lee at ONE Fight Night 35, set for September 5th. It remains to be seen if the scheduling of the fight will interfere with Tye's inclusion in CJI 2.

-William Tackett will face Kyle Chambers at the second edition of UFC BJJ 2, which will air free on YouTube

What's Coming Up In BJJ

  • July 25th: WNO comes to Miami! We have already announced a bunch of major matchups, including Vagner Rocha vs Kit Dale, Adele Fornarino vs Jasmine Rocha, and more.
  • July 26th: BJJ Stars 16 is coming to you from Sao Paulo with. no-gi GP and several title matches. This is Brazil's biggest and best super fight show and it always delivers on action.
  • July 31st: UFC BJJ 2 will go down with Andrew Tackett defending his championship belt against Renato Canuto
  • August 6th: The ADCC season begins again as the European, Middle East, & African Trials begins. Five men's trials winners will advance to the 2026 World Championships.
  • August 28-30th: The IBJJF Master Worlds & Jiu-Jitsu Con is back! This is one of the busiest tournaments in jiu-jitsu, with lots of fun stuff for fans to do.
  • August 30-31st: CJI 2, featuring 8 star-studded teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize, airs live on YouTube for grappling fans everywhere to enjoy
