With Owen Jones Out, Gianni Grippo To Face Max Hanson At WNO 29

Owen Jones has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming match with Gianni Grippo at WNO 29 but we still have a great matchup between two world ranked grapplers, as Max Hanson will step in to replace Owen and face Gianni. That will all be going down as part of the main card of the grappling super fight show WNO 29, July 25th in Miami, Florida.

While hopefully Owen and Gianni can still settle things down the road, Max is a world class black belt who has been steadily climbing the ranks as one of the sport's most active competitors. He fights everywhere, as often as he can, and in as many weight classes as necessary while he accrues elite experience. He is a pupil of Dante Leon and represents Pedigo Submission Fighting & Adamas Jiu-Jitsu, and in 2024 he won the IBJJF Pan No-Gi Championship and competed at his first ADCC World Championship.

Gianni was set to settle a grudge with Owen but he still gets the opportunity to make his WNO debut against a world ranked guy and show his jiu-jitsu at the highest levels. Gianni is now a veteran in the game after years fighting the best of the best. Originally he was one of the most notorious berimbolo artists in the world but he has since developed a dangerous no-gi style that includes leg locks, arm triangles, and more.

These two are part of a great eleven match card going down July 25th in Miami, Florida, WNO 29: Rocha vs Dale. Every WNO delivers the best action in no-gi grappling in the world and we are excited to put on another edition for fans around the world.
