What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu
-The IBJJF World No-Gi Championships happened over the weekend, with 17 new champions being crowned in the black belt divisions. Highlights include:
- Elisabeth Clay became the first woman to submit Gabi Pessanha, capping off an all-submission double gold run. Legendary stuff from Elisabeth Clay.
- Roosevelt Sousa won double gold with two submissions in the finals, capping off an incredible year where he also won the gi world title at ultra-heavy.
- 8 different nationalities won black belt titles, with first time nations of Panama and Scotland.
- Cassia Moura won the heavyweight title, bumping up 4 weight classes in an effort to make a statement. Mission accomplished.
- Adele Fornarino won her first IBJJF black belt world title, winning by submission in the finals in only 16 seconds.
- Cole Abate won his second world title, finishing his final match with a score of 14-0. Abate won the IBJJF Crown, an exclusive gi tournament, just two weeks ago.
- Helena Crevar won her first IBJJF black belt world title, winning every match by submission.

-10th Planet OG Richie 'Boogeyman' Martinez won a masters black belt no-gi world title, hitting his signature Carny submission 4 times, before retiring from competition. Congrats to Boogey on an awesome career.
-Michael Pixley won the brown belt super heavy title at No-Gi Worlds and was promoted on the podium by coach Heath Pedigo. One other notable black belt promotion was world-ranked Nick Hartman by Robert Drysdale after Hartman won ultra-heavy with all submissions.
-Andrew Tackett won in the main event of UFC BJJ 4, submitting Elijah Dorsey in the first round to retain his promotional title. In other promotional title matches, Ronaldo Junior won a wide decision against William Tackett for the inaugural middleweight championship and Aurelie Le Vern submitted Raquel Canuto with a signature Six Blades kimura in the first round for featherweight gold.
-Vinicius 'Draculino' Magalhaes was promoted to coral belt in jiu-jitsu after 31 years in the martial art.
-Jack 'Jackuraba' Sear beat Shoya Ishiguro at ONE Friday Fights 136 at featherweight by decision, becoming the first UK-based grappler to win in the promotion.
-Megadeath's Dave Mustaine was promoted to black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu by Reginaldo Almeida.
