What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu

-Rafael Lovato Jr. will wrestle in college, debuting this season for the NAIA Oklahoma City University Stars. The 42-year-old black belt world champion recently took third at the US Open in the veteran's divisions.

-Andre Galvão received his 5th degree on his black belt from his professor Fernando Tererê.

-Longtime Gracie Barra black belt & instructor Claudio Caloquinha passed away. The leader of the GB Belo Horizonte academy was only 44.

-The IBJJF European Championships has closed, with many of the world's top athletes ready for Lisbon in just a few weeks. See the full list here.

-'Baby Shark' Diogo Reis won ONE Championship Grappler of the Year after going 2-0 and capturing the promotion's 135lb championship in 2025.

-Polaris announced a few matches that will be on their first event back on FloGrappling, with Levi Jones-Leary facing off against Davis Asare and Adele Fornarino facing off against Selma Vik.

-Nick Hartman has joined the IBJJF Absolute GP this February, the third official entrant after Victor Hugo and Michael Pixley. Hartman recently won the brown belt ultra-heavy no-gi world championship.

-AJP will hold their first no-gi grand slam event this year, when they host the Rome International Open on February 13th.
