The action from day one of ADCC West Coast Trials has completed with sixteen athletes from every division advancing to day two - where tickets to Worlds will be punched, legacies will be built, and everything heats way, way up.
Matches were rolling all day long, with most of the favorites having a few matches against a tough field. What really stuck out compared to the last few years were how many tough matches even tested veterans had to grit through to qualify. Even those that got all submissions on day one had to battle as the overall level of the game continues to rise.
Upsets were definitely rolling with multiple top seeds falling early, often by submission. Almost ten top-10 seeds failed to reach day 2 here, a testiment to the difficulty of the event.
ADCC West Coast Trials Day Two Schedule
The West Coast Trials picks back up tomorrow, April 19th at 10am PST with the round of sixteen matchups. Every weight will run, then the quarters will start, then semifinals, bronze medal matches, and finishing with finals.
