It's the final few days of the 2026 IBJJF Brasileiro Championship and the black belts take the mats today as they hunt for one of the sport's most prestigious titles. You can catch every match exclusively on FloGrappling but if you can't tune in - we still have you covered. The men's and women's black belt absolutes and day one matches are going to be rolling all day Saturday!

Black Belt Live Updates

Action resumes Sunday, 7:30am CDT, with men's quarters, followed by men's semifinals, followed by all the finals. The last match will be Gabi Pessanha vs Sarah Galvao in the women's open class final, a rubber match after their 1-1 split this season.

In what I expect to be our final big bout of the day, Fellipe Andrew makes his return to IBJJF major competition with a match against Nico Maglicic. Nico just had a wild comeback win, going down by 5 before tying the score and submitting his opponent. Wow, Fellipe catches him thirty seconds in with a brutal straight ankle. Fellipe is back.

Eduardo Alves of Alliance begins his run here at Brasileiros, he's been on a great run this rookie year. The other half of the women's middle final is going now, Clay vs Menezes. They are 1-1 in major competition. Lis snatches the submission in short order, impressive win there. Maria Vicentini scores with only 10 seconds left to make the finals and avoid the upset.

Wow, Wesley Felix of Vision scores the upset over Matheus Vetoraci. Big win for him. Lillian Marchand and Larissa Martins are up now in a semifinal at middle. Larissa won a close match in Lisbon in January. Lillian finds the back and she will get the win here!

Right after him is his new AOJ teammate Tainan, who is equally dominant in victory. Big one rolling out - Jose Steve vs the returning Jonnatas Gracie, one of the day's best matchups. Gracie has the edge late on a penalty, but Steve manages an advantage as time expires to win. They are reviewing - upheld, Steve wins. Sarah back up and uses a sweep to get 2 - she will ride that to the win and she's into her second final tomorrow. 

Sarah Galvao gets it done in her open class semifinal and we are officially set for our third meeting between her and Gabi Pessanha, quite the main event in Brazil tomorrow evening. Really good match up now at men's featherweight with Sebastian Serpa facing Eduardo Granzotto. That will go to decision and it goes to Serpa! Andy Murasaki now taking the mats for his first IBJJF major of the year. He wastes no time getting the choke and advances. 

Thaís Loureiro and Jessica Caroline now facing off in a very close semifinal at rooster. After a penalty comes in, Thais evens it on advantages but it won't be enough - Jessica wins it. Open class men's semifinals now rolling out. At the same time, Bisnaga racks up 15 points in the first 90 seconds or so of his first match, great start for him. In the men's open class, two soldiers black belts make the finals - Erich Munis and Gabriel Ribeiro - so we are likely looking at a third straight open class major closeout. Gabi Pessanha puts herself into another open class final after a dominant submission win against featherweight Giovanah. She might have damaged Giovanah's nose with that triangle choke finish. Mayssa Bastos is up now in her lone match of the day. She cruises to victory and is back in the finals here in Brazil. Giovanah Oliveira is back up for her first weight class match - it's only been about twenty minutes since her run in the open. Doesn't matter, she still gets the submission win - very impressive.

Pretty crazy run for Giovanah Oliveira as she takes out the Euro super-heavy silver medalist and is into the semifinals of the open! Crazy run so far for the rookie. Mia Funegra is out now, up a weight from her normal division. She racks up some points and finally the submission - rolling so far! Erich Munis is out now to begin his campaign and he wastes no time in advancing by submission.

In our first open class quarter, Gabi Pessanha smashes her way to a submission win over Lillian Marchand. I can see a few of the lighter women's matches start to trickle out as the absolutes keep going (even though some round one matches are still going). Keeping pace, Sarah Galvão scores her second submission win of the day and is into the semifinals as well. Ashlee Funegra takes the mat at light-feather and wastes no time scoring the submission.

Gabi Pessanha is on the mat, and she collects her first submission win of the day in about thirty seconds by foot lock. Sarah Galvão (the other big name in the women's absolute) is now on mat 11. She wins and advances her way to the quarters. The featherweight Giovanah Oliveira just upset top-10 middleweight Gisele Menezes and is into the quarters!

We have begun the black belts here at the IBJJF Brasileiros! The open classes will kick us off, with men's elimination rounds and women's elimination rounds, quarters, and semifinals. Big early match here as Luis Cantereira takes the mats against Adrian Roberto. Roberto just got his black belt, I believe this is his debut at the rank. 2-2 and Roberto leads on advantages - but Cantereira uses a body lock from standing to get on top and get two more. Veteran win there from Cantereira. On the other mat, Lillian Marchand collects a kimura win.
