Get a quick rundown of everything happening in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in just a few minutes

What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu

-Kade Ruotolo will make his return to submission grappling with his first match since CJI 1 against Fabricio Andrey. Andrey, typically a 145lb grappler, has had great success moving up in weight in the past. The match will be for Ruotolo's 170lb championship.

-A pair of big matches were announced for the number one pound-for-pound woman in grappling Helena Crevar;

  • She will make her ONE Championship debut at ONE: The Inner Circle in an open weight match against Paige Ivette Clymer, who recently won ADCC Trials
  • She will defend her Polaris 155lb championship belt against Amanda Pamela Nicole at Polaris 37, which will air live exclusively on FloGrappling

-IBJJF Worlds registration closes in just one week, with divisions filling up quick. Six black belt world champions from 2025 are already registered, with that number expected to double this final week.

-Fight to Win, one of grappling's longest running shows, will make their Brazilian debut in a little under two weeks when they head to São Caetano do Sul on May 23rd.

-We missed last week but Main Character Jiu-Jitsu 9 went down last week, with events on both Saturday and Sunday. Six title matches happened at the Sunday event, with Marlon Tajik winning the 185lb title in the main event.

-Thug Trials 3 went down in Miami, Florida with Rafael Lovato Jr winning in the main event, submitting Vagner Rocha in a match between living legends. The event was stacked with talent, with wins coming to Helena Crevar, Gabriel Sousa, Jacob Couch, Adele Fornarino, and more.

-UFC BJJ announced that, because Bianca Basilio has had to withdraw from her planned match, Cassia Moura will now defend her championship against Sabrina Gondim.

-Mica Galvão announced his plans for his own team, Mika Jiu-Jitsu, are on hold after the dissolution of BJJ College and expressed his support for any victims in the ongoing investigation of his father.

-While there are invites starting to roll out for the 2026 ADCC World Championships, we aren't going to report on any of them until they are made official by ADCC.
