The biggest jiu-jitsu tournament in the world is about to kick off in just a few weeks - the 2026 IBJJF World Championship. The entire event, including the most stacked black belt brackets I have ever seen, will be going down live exclusively on FloGrappling May 28-31.
The registration has just closed and we cannot believe the depth of these fields. Some brackets will feature the entire global top-15 in the same bracket and there are literally dozens of athletes in the mix who have won a black belt adult world championship before.
Only three black belts have won every IBJJF major so far this year. They are:
- Tainan Dalpra
- Gabi Pessanha
- Sarah Galvão
Because the IBJJF considers the competition calendar to begin at Worlds and end at Brasileiros, this tournament begins a new official Grand Slam season - meaning whoever wins this event will need to win the 2027 Euros, Pans, and Brasileiro to become an official Grand Slam Champion.
