What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu
-IBJJF & ADCC Champion Mackenzie Dern defended her UFC championship by decision at UFC 330.
-The IBJJF has announced more seminars that will be happening at Jiu-Jitsu Con, including The Funegra twins, the R1NG Jiu-Jitsu leaders (Gordo Correa, Alexandre Soca, and Mauricio Tinguinha), and hall of famer Roger Gracie. They also announced Heath Pedigo will be giving a talk on PSF & gym culture.
-Ruan Alvarenga defeated Meyram Maquine by decision at ONE over the weekend.
-Sixteen year old Kolby Gonzales won the Sub Hunter Pro 170lb bracket in Texas, beating three world class opponents
-Baret Yoshida defended his F2W title for the 15th time, winning by triangle choke in the main event of F2W 323.
-Polaris announced their potential contenders for the -70kg Grand Prix they will be running soon at their August 30th PSG event. Find the list of names here. The title belt is currently vacant, meaning the winner here can set themselves up for potential inclusion in whatever event is run to crown a new champion.
-IBJJF Open Round-Up:
- Featherweight Cleison Santos won the men's black belt open class in Juiz da Fora, beating Pan heavyweight champion Luiz Felipe in the finals for double gold. Gisele Tavares won double gold in the women's division, at medium heavy & open class. Other notable champions include Pablo Oliveira.
- Larissa Dias was busy in New York, winning double gold with two matches to continue her winning streak. Alexandre Papa Manara won double gold in the men's division.
