Stars Head To Russia For Berkut Jiu-Jitsu Event

A major professional BJJ event will go down later this month featuring some of the biggest names in the game. 

'Berkut' will host a star-studded show that takes places on November 21, 2015 8 AM EST in Moscow, Russia (Local time is 4 PM). 

The pro grappling event is putting together a card unlike any other, drawing together grapplers from the USA, Brazil, Europe and Asia. This is the Russian event’s second show, building on their previous success and making this one for the record books. 

To put into perspective the talent’s combined awards and honors include 10 ADCC championship titles and over 25 IBJJF world titles.  

Headlining the card is Andre Galvao, ADCC 2015 superfight champion, multiple-time IBJJF world champion and World Pro champion. Galvao will take on Gracie Barra’s Romulo Barral in a submission-only no-gi match. Barral is a 2013 ADCC champion and a five-time IBJJF world champion. 

Also on the card is ADCC 2015 absolute champion and 2015 IBJJF world champion Claudio Calasans. The ATOS team member will meet Lucas Rocha of Gracie Barra. 

Yuri Simoes, 2015 ADCC 88kg champ, will tangle with Felipe ‘Preguica’ Pena in a no-gi bout, while the Miyao brothers Paulo and Joao will match up with Samir Chantre and Osvaldo ‘Queixinho’ respectively in the gi. 

Jackson Sousa of Checkmat will meet highly-touted local grappler Abdurakhman Bilarov in a no-gi match. Bilarov is a heavyweight who holds a win over Claudio Calasans on a previous Berkut BJJ event. 

Also featured are veterans Dean Lister and Jeff Monson against Russian opponents, as well as a number of other supporting matches.
