It was a good weekend for the Atos gang. Andre Galvao and a bunch of his students won on their home turf in San Diego on Fight To Win Pro 5 (watch matches here), while the rest of the gang went to Vegas for the weekend and cashed out big with a haul of gold medals. 

Rafa Mendes Gets Gold With Nice Submission


Art of Jiu-Jitsu co-founder Rafael Mendes beats Samir Chantre in the finals of the featherweight division with a solid display of great guard passing before finishing it with a submission. Mendes is a hot favorite for the World title just a few weeks away, and he looks in great form.

Lucas Hulk Wins Category But Misses Out on Absolute

 
Atos rep Lucas 'Hulk' Barbosa cleaned up the middle heavyweight division but missed out on a chance to compete in the absolute division due to the registration being closed as he was competing in his weight class final. 

“I really wanted to try to come home with double gold, but it was God’s will that I’ll have to wait until next time. Thank you everybody following me!” he wrote on his Facebook.

But sister Tammi wins gold!


Tammi Musumeci beat Sarah Black in the only fight of the female lightweight black belt division. Worth noting that Black would later go on to win the openweight division that day!
