A grappling superfight between MMA fighter Chael Sonnen and American Top Team co-founder Ricardo Liborio has been announced for the ADCC World Championships in September 2017.

The news was released on the official ADCC website and confirmed by Sonnen via text message to FloGrappling.

ADCC Worlds will take place on 22-24 Sep, 2017 at The Espoo Metro Areena in Espoo, Finland.

Ricardo Liborio is a jiu-jitsu black belt trained by the legendary Carlson Gracie. He would later go on to co-found Brazilian Top Team and American Top Team, two highly-respected stables of MMA fighters.

Liborio last competed in an ADCC superfight in August of 2015, beating Mario Sperry by decision.

Chael Sonnnen is well-known for his lengthy MMA career that saw him fight some of the best fighters in the world, including Jon Jones and Anderson Silva.

Sonnen holds notable submission wins over opponents including Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua (via guillotine) and an arm-triangle win over Brian Stann.

An experienced wrestler, Sonnen has a background in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. He has taken a number of grappling matches, with matches against Andre Galvao, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, and Renato 'Babalu' Sobral.
