Go ahead and believe AJ Agazarm doesn't have a chance against Dillon Danis -- he's just fine with that. Because love him or loathe him, he's just as tough as they come.
Go ahead and believe AJ Agazarm doesn't have a chance against Dillon Danis at Submission Underground 3 this weekend -- he's just fine with that. Yeah, Agazarm knows he's got a brash personality -- deal with it. Ultimately, it's the jiu-jitsu that matters.
Because love him or loathe him, Agazarm is as tough as they come heading into his bout with Danis at Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday.

"I've been grappling for 15 years," he said. "I just go out there and break my opponent -- that's my style. In the middle of a fight I'm constantly thinking about breaking the will of my opponent."
The 28-year-old Gracie Barra black belt's long list of accolades didn't come by accident. Consider the numbers…
• 2014 No-Gi World Champion
• 2013 Pan American No-Gi Champion
• Three-time European No-Gi Champion
• 2013 Brazilian No-Gi Champion
• 120-plus black belt matches
• 10 career superfights
It was no fluke when he beat Davi Ramos, the 2015 ADCC champion. Agazarm outworked and outwrestled a dangerous opponent and emerged the winner.

Agazarm is a man who has competed out of his weight class for over half of his black belt career. More than 50 percent of his career matches as a black belt are in the openweight division, almost always against bigger opponents.
Sure, Danis is hot stuff right now -- a dangerous submission hunter out to prove he's the real deal.
But don't underestimate Agazarm's ability to make a seemingly ordinary match into a knock-down, drag-out brawl.
And his fighting spirit? He'd rather let something break or go to sleep in the middle of the mat than give up and tap out.
Go ahead and underestimate AJ Agazarm, but don't say we didn't warn you.

One thing that I really like about grappling is it's all about leverage and using the strength of an opponent against them. My preparation is always the same -- to identify the deficiencies of my opponent and use them as a weapon to destroy them.
