Dillon Danis Beats AJ Agazarm In Overtime At Submission Underground 3
Danis vs Agazarm went the full 8 minutes of regulation and into overtime where Danis accumulated the quickest escape times for the win.
The bad blood between Dillon Danis and AJ Agazarm was understated until the two met at the weigh ins in Portland. At the end of a heated staredown words were exchanged and things were close to getting physical. Thankfully, the match went on without incident as the two black belts focused on pure grappling.
Danis easily controlled the action, taking down noted wrestler Agazarm with a big bodylock dump and a slick foot trip. He used a number of submission attacks, including a guillotine and a kimura trap, but the Gracie Barra rep managed to defend.

In contrast, Agazarm offered no offense and appeared content to simply waste time until the OT rounds, often refusing to engage with Danis in any meaningful way. It was plain to see (and backed up by his post-match speech) that Agazarm felt not losing was the same as winning.
Danis vs Agazarm went the full 8 minutes of regulation and into overtime where Danis accumulated the quickest escape times for the win. Agazarm proved unable to hold onto the slippery New Jersey grappler for more than a few seconds, while Danis's back control was effective in keeping Agazarm immobile.
The post-match interviews were just as entertaining as the match itself, with Danis calling Jon Jones some choice words before doing a literal mic drop, and Agazarm going head to head with interviewer / matchmaker Chael Sonnen about a supposed "gentleman's agreement" between Danis and Agazarm to make the match at 180lb.
In truth, the contract never specified a match weight and no agreement was ever settled on, meaning Danis did not miss weight as has been reported.

The rest of the main card was pure fire. Antonio Carlos Jr submitted Garry Tonon with an incredible flying triangle, Jeff Glover and Chad Mendes went at it relentlessly for eight minutes before the MMA fighter won via fastest submission, and Gordon Ryan had a showcase win over leglock expert Joe Baize.
