Not only did the Brazilian black belt submit one of the most dangerous grapplers in shocking fashion, but Carlos also issued a direct challenge to the best of the best.
"I will compete against anybody. Nobody is safe," he told FloCombat. "On my best day, I can beat anybody in the world. A lot of high-level grapplers only want to compete against MMA guys in grappling. They should be ashamed of themselves. They know most MMA guys aren't that good at grappling."

Cara de Sapato was a well-known jiu-jitsu competitor before he made the switch to MMA. He has wins over Bernardo Faria, Leandro Lo and Romulo Barral.
He went on to win "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil Season 3" and has had seven fights in the UFC since 2014.
Carlos was a late replacement for Hector Lombard at SUG 3, and even though he hadn't competed in pure grappling for a while, the layoff didn't seem to faze him.
