To win the belt and the prize money, Hulk needs to face the likes of Leandro Lo, Elliot Kelly, Tanner Rice, Joao Assis, Tarsis Humphreys, Nick Schrock, and Ezra Lenon in a series of six-minute submission-only matches. In the event of a tie, judges decide a winner based on who was closest to submitting his opponent.
Barbosa, 25, opened up about the training at the Atos headquarters in San Diego and a possible showdown with Leandro Lo.
"Well, it will be a little different," Barbosa said. "I am used to fighting under IBJJF rules, so I think it will be a pretty cool experience. The training is in full swing, and I've done a lot of rounds. Professor Andre Galvão is helping me a lot for this event, and I believe we will surprise some people."
The opening round matches will be decided by random draw at the weigh-ins on Friday, so it's not yet known who will face who. However, Barbosa had this to say about a potential match with Lo:
"I am very prepared for this event," he said. "I'll give everything to walk out of there with that prize. I don't see anybody who deserves to be champion more than me.
"Of the seven opponents, I've already fought four of them -- Tanner Rice, Ezra Lenon, Nick Schrock and Elliot Kelly -- and I did well. I believe we are all very tough and every fight is to be going to be a great show for the public."

I believe it will be a good roll. I trained a lot with Leandro as a brown belt and we always used to go at it, those were always great sessions. And if we fight, hopefully in the final, it will be really cool to feel the experience of going head to head with him again.Of course, when asked to predict how things will go "Hulk" is betting on himself!
