The end of year FloGrappling awards honor the best in jiu-jitsu, and less than a quarter into 2017 we've already identified a couple of early contenders for Match of the Year, both gi and no-gi.

The IBJJF 2017 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship was one of the most exciting and entertaining in recent memory. Only one division was closed out, giving fans a number of dynamic matches to enjoy.

The two former teammates went back and forth in a 10-minute war that had the entire arena on their feet.
They traded takedowns, exchanged positions and fought tooth and nail every step of the way. The match ended in a razor-sharp score of 2-2 (3-2 adv) in favor of Santos.
It was bloody, it was intense, and it is a hot pick for 2017 Gi Match of the Year.

Garry Tonon vs Justin Rader, Fight To Win Pro 28
Garry Tonon admitted that Justin Rader was one of his idols and a big influence on his career, but he held nothing back in this 10-minute bout of non-stop action.
Rader had a lot of pressure on him -- he was fighting in front of his hometown crowd -- and Tonon's relentless attacking style only added to that.
The two men are both great in the scramble and the ensuing tangle of bodies and limbs had Fight To Win CEO Seth Daniels peg this as the greatest match in Fight To Win history.
Tonon walked away the winner via decision, but the real winner were the fans who got to watch such an incredible match.
