Essential Info About The UAEJJF 2017-2018 Season (That Just Started)
A new competition season has just begun, and there are your chances to get an early start in the 2017/18 UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation annual ranking. 

The first official tournament goes down one week from now on May 13, so here's what you need to know. 

The 2017 Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship saw a number of changes introduced. A maximum of two athletes per country are now permitted in the same weight category. 

The highest-ranked athlete automatically qualified to represent their country, with all other competitors required to qualify for the main World Pro bracket by competing in a Country Qualifier. 

Competitors now know they must earn points throughout the season to be in with a chance at directly qualifying to represent their country. 

UAEJJF World Ranking points are earned by competing in UAEJJF tournaments, of which the first of the season begins one week from now on May 13, in Zagreb, Croatia. 


Throughout the 2017-2018 season, there are: 
  • ​20 International Championships 
  • 25 National Pro Championships 
  • Six Continental Championships 
  • Five Abu Dhabi Grand Slams 
  • One Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship 
That makes a total of 57 opportunities to compete throughout the season, with huge cash prizes for top-ranked athletes. 


The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour locations and dates are all set, and are as follows: 
  • ​Abu Dhabi Grand Slam - Tokyo, July 15
  • Abu Dhabi Grand Slam - Los Angeles, September 23 & 24 
  • Abu Dhabi Grand Slam - Rio de Janeiro, November 10-12  
  • Abu Dhabi Grand Slam - Abu Dhabi, January 12-13 
  • Abu Dhabi Grand Slam - London, March 10-11  
Tournaments are scheduled throughout the month of May and June in locations such as: 
  • ​May 13: Zagreb, Croatia 
  • May 20: Moscow, Russia 
  • May 20: Tokyo, Japan  
  • June 17: Nagoya, Japan 
  • June 24: Sendai, Japan 
  • with many more locations around the world TBA
