UPDATED: Gordon Ryan's Amazing Physical Transformation, In Photos
Gordon Ryan is known for his savage heel hooks but has been catching attention for more than just his moves on the mat.
Noted no-gi grappler Gordon Ryan is known for turning heads with his savage heel hooks and crushing chokes. Throughout 2017, the 22-year-old ADCC champion's physique competed for attention with his incredible achievements.
Gordon Ryan's amazing physical transformation has had many members of the jiu-jitsu community asking, "how was that possible?". Many believed that Ryan was a skinny lightweight all along, but the truth is quite different.
Standing at a lanky 6'2", Ryan is naturally long and lean. He has cut incredible amounts of weight in the past, dropping his natural walk-around from in the region of 185lb down to as low as 160lb for a same-day weigh-in.
This last year Ryan has been on a serious bulking project. He's been lifting and eating with the objective of getting – to use the technical term – fricking hench.
At the weigh-ins for Fight To Win Pro 34 in May, Ryan hit a huge 213lb. He dropped back down to 88kg (194lb) for ADCC in September, and on Dec 3 at EBI 14 he tipped the scales at 220.6lb.
Ryan has a match scheduled for KASAI Pro on Saturday Dec 9 against ADCC 99kg (218lb) champ Yuri Simoes where Gordon may even be the bigger man.
Take a look at Ryan's physical transformation over the last two years below.
